Total is one of the world's largest international oil and gas companies. Our operations cover the entire energy chain, including oil exploration and production to trading, shipping and refining and marketing of petroleum products, as well as Chemicals. The Group has operations in over 130 countries and more than 95,000 employees worldwide.

The diversity of the Group's worldwide business is reflected in the UK with activity in all three key areas: exploration and production, refining and marketing, and chemicals.

TOTAL UK is the UK refining and marketing operation for the Total Group. It is the fourth largest oil company in the UK with a turnover of over £3billion, and employs over 5,000 people.

We have two ideally placed refineries in the UK, one in South Wales at Milford Haven, and the other based on the East Coast at Killingholme, Lincolnshire. Between them over 300,000 barrels of oil are refined every day and turned into a wide range of products, from different types of liquid fuels to gas, special fluids and bitumen.

Once the finished products leave the refineries, they are distributed around the UK by road, rail, sea and underground pipelines. TOTAL has oil storage terminals at strategic locations around England, Wales, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. From these terminals, products are transported to commercial customers and the company's network of service stations.

We have a wide network of TOTAL branded service stations and also sell petroleum products and lubricants into the industrial, road-transport and reseller markets. TOTAL BUTLER is our company-owned fuel distributor and one of the largest of its kind in the UK. We also have a large network of Authorised Distributors operating under the TOTAL brand, as well as being a major supplier of fuel and lubricants to the Channel Islands and to the Isle of Man. In addition, Nickerson Fuel Oils are the heavy fuel oil division for TOTAL, supplying low sulphur, heavy and medium fuel oil and Power Petroleum supplies to the independent retail market.

The Specialities division manufactures and sells lubricants, bitumen products and petroleum-based solvents into the transport, building and manufacturing sectors. We are also one of the country's leading suppliers of aviation fuels, supplying London's Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports, as well as many smaller airfields around the country.
