Finaline Subterranean Pipeline
The Finaline multi-product pipeline is the major link between TOTAL UK’s Lindsey Oil Refinery and its Buncefield Terminal in Hertfordshire. Completed in the summer of 1990, it marked the start of a new era for the Company's logistics offering a safe, environmentally-friendly method of distribution.
Finaline also connects to a joint venture pipeline leading into London Heathrow, the world's busiest airport. The pipeline is 238km in length, crossing 158 roads, 13 main rivers and 7 railway lines along the way.
Horizontal directional drilling enabled Finaline to cross rivers avoiding damage to riverbeds and banks and interference with water flow.
Finaline is 10inches in diameter and operates at a pressure of 110bar, having the capacity of 6million litres per day.
